Flexible work is the new normal
Today's flexible working environment is no longer a "pandemic thing", it's the new normal.
Data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics show that just as many Americans did some form of remote work in 2023 as they did in 2022.
The Guardian quoted Stanford professor Nicholas Bloom, who has been researching remote working habits for decades as saying: "Since the beginning of 2023, we've been in the new normal".
Bloom published a study in Nature journal recently which found that "working from home has become standard for employees with a university degree". Furthermore, a test of 1,612 employees working in a Chinese technology company Trip.com in 2021 and 2022 showed that hybrid work improved job satisfaction and reduced quit rates by one third.
The study also concluded that "results indicate that a hybrid schedule with two days a week working from home does not damage performance".
So when you're boss tries to argue that working from home is going to cause the world to implode, you've now got stats to prove otherwise.
